ocd smarty pants

Sadie is such a good mix of Ry and I - she's got my ocd and his brilliance...which makes for an entertaining combination. Just some random Sadie-isms as of late...

My sister sent Sadie the following postcard the other week - she put it on the fridge with the magnet placed just so over his eye...

Someone picked it up to read the back and put it back as a normal person would (without a monocle)  - it wasn't 2 seconds later that Sadie came behind them to fix it. The magnet needed to be over his eye. All he needs now is a top hat!

Speaking of ocd - she used glow worm as a flashlight to pick at a "scratch" on her wall for 2 hours instead of going to sleep...in the morning we found a hole all the way down to a screw in the dry wall. The next night she asked for a  band-aid for the wall...what a goof!

While eating dinner last week she found a duck on the ketchup...it took Ry and I a second to know what she was talking about...do you see it?

Two mornings ago she woke up hysterically screaming in her sleep - "Aaaahhhh!!! No!!!! Don't take my bike!!! That's my bike!!!" - super frantic. Ry went to her room to calm her down...."That's my bike!!! Don't take my bike Welly!!!" - ha! Apparently she's terrified of her cousin Welly taking her bike. It was hilarious.

She told me this morning that we should only have 2 kids in our family - her and baby brother. I asked "What if there are other kids waiting in heaven to come to our family?" She then pointed to a picture of a different family and said matter of factly - "They can go live with them." We'll see...

sledding fun with daddy + grandpa

Sadie has been wanting to build a snowman and go sledding forever - sometimes it's the first thing she talks about after waking up in the morning. But, lame-o pregnant mom can't do those things - at least not the sledding.

So she finally got to go with her daddy and grandpa this last weekend. She loved and hated it all at the same time.

Wasn't quite sure about the big hill, loved being pulled up the hill, loved throwing snowballs, and loved getting stuck in a hole she found...

36 1/2 weeks

Secretly I was hoping my water would break in the middle of the night last night - like it did with Sadie...this time with her I was in the hospital waiting for my epidural...

I am just impatient. I want this little guy to come now! Apparently he's comfy...I do have an appointment later today with my doctor though - so we'll find out if I'm progressing at all.

Limbo, I'm (we're) getting pretty good at limbo.

Waiting for baby...

Waiting for thesis to be done...

Waiting to figure out job stuff for Ry...

Waiting to decide where/when to buy a home according to job stuff...

All 4 things could happen within the next month...or not. It'll be crazy busy! But exciting. And I'm anxious.

Did I mention Ry found the PERFECT house for us - we even drove out and walked through it on Saturday. We were both waiting (and hoping) to find something horribly wrong with it so we could walk away...nope, more perfect for us than we even thought! It has absolutely everything we want in a home. Everything. Humph. Curse that perfect home.

We'd make an offer right now - except for Ry's very boring imperfect job...I don't want him to be stuck in a dead end when he's worked so hard and has so many opportunities He, likewise, does not want to be stuck...stupid perfect home. I hope it gets bought soon so we can forget about it.

Why does this post feel very complainy? Guess that's a sign to stop.

Oh, since I'm being random anyways...want to vote on a name? We're stuck. Check out the poll on the sidebar.

Happy MLK day everyone!

35 weeks and adorable!

Umm...he's adorable! I can't wait to see him and kiss those chunky cheeks! His growth slowed down tremendously - thank heavens! So instead of being 4 weeks ahead, he's only 8 days ahead now. Crazy boy. About 5 lbs 12 oz. right now - not too shabby.

Hiding behind both hands...

Sucking his thumb...

The ultrasound tech even pointed out his hair - we could see TONS of hair! According to the ultrasound tech he "has a great mullet!" - he'll probably come out like Sadie did. Can't wait!

So - my next dr apt is the 17th...at 36 1/2 weeks exactly - that's when Sadie came...ha! So we'll see if I make it there. At the latest I'll be induced on the 27th - which rocks! Time to get everything ready.

our new years

We spent New Year's at our house, just the 3 (or rather 4) of us this year - we've never done that before...and we LOVED it! Since baby boy will be making his appearance soon and changing things, we are really relishing in all the time we can spend as a family - just us.

We did one of Little Miss's favorite things - cuddle in blankets and pillows on the floor to watch a movie with popcorn. This is the 2nd time we've done this and she thinks it is the best! We watched Despicable Me - pretty good.

After Sadie was in bed Ry and I watched The Ghost Writer and waited for midnight. I thought it was time for bed...only to find out my sweet husband had secretly rolled up blankets and created a "maternity" massage table on our bed. I wish I'd taken a picture - he's so creative. And I got to lay on my tummy for the first time in months! Best ever. And he gave me a great massage!

I sure love that guy! He said he was starting out the new year right - with brownie points. So funny. Happy New Years!

loved every crazy minute of it!

merry christmas!

I am so grateful for this season - the food, the family, but most of all - the chance that I have to focus on my Savior. It has been so fun to teach Sadie more about the birth of Christ and what is means to us. She loves playing with her "activity" (nativity) as she calls it and I'll catch her singing Away In A Manger anytime of day. She tells me that it's almost Jesus' birthday quite often - so I think she gets the true meaning of Christmas. I sure love that little girl!

Merry Christmas!

baby boy

So apparently I am going to have a large baby with no explanation...this is a picture of the little, or rather, big tyke...his profile last week (31 weeks)...

He's measuring about 3 weeks early and I am measuring right on. So this little dude is pretty cramped. He has extra long legs (about 5 weeks too long) and a big head (about 4 weeks too big)...just about the last thing any pregnant lady wants to hear! Ry and I both think it'll be a mid to late January baby, not February as predicted.

He's apparently puzzled the doctors though - no gestational diabetes, I'm not overweight or measuring big - so we get another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see how he's grown.

My doctor said today "Well, he has me a little worried, so I want to keep an eye on him". Good news though - he won't let me go past 38 weeks, which means if he doesn't come on his own - I'll be induced on January 27th at the latest. Hooray! So I guess that's my "new", although not technical, due date.

I love you January 27th! Now to figure out his name...

A few things that are different this time around - he gets hiccups daily, Sadie never did. To count 10 movements with Sadie it took about 30 minutes on average - with this little dude, 3-5 minutes - he is SUPER active! I love him & his wiggly self already! Can't wait to see what he looks like!

Also - adema (water retention and swelling) this time - none last time. So...I have little sausage fingers that now adorn fake bling from wal-mart & my fingers go numb from the pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. But, that'll all go away once he makes his appearance! Yay for only a few weeks left!

little super star

My dad always teases about how when I was little I would sing along to the songs on the radio and know the lyrics before they said them - songs I'd never heard...he is prone to exagerate. So I don't really believe the 'songs I'd never heard' part...but I do have a thing for lyrics...too bad my memory is horrible in every other way!

Looks like my little girl has picked up on that trait. While driving around town I usually hear this little voice singing along to songs on the radio. One of her favorites is "you are the only exception, you are the only exception" - whoever sings that. And that new Sara B song that goes "who died and made you king of anything?!" - she knows almost all the words of the chorus to that. And here's a clip of another of her favorites...

After the song ends she likes to tell me proudly - "Mommy! I sang that song with you!" I sure love her. Good thing I (mostly) kicked my rap habit...=)

lately

I'm just too busy to throw together anything but random posts for our family blog right now...so here it is...

The other day we took a random trip down south & saw Grandma VeAnn in action as a kindergarten teacher. We got there just before school was out and Sadie got to sit on the rug and listen to story-time with all the big kids. She's front and center under the ginormous arrow I added...

...she loved it and was telling me afterwards that she wants to go to school. She keeps talking about Grandma's "kindergarten kids". I can't wait to get her into preschool - she's so ready! I was very proud of how still she sat.

Here she is pretending to be a baby in the unfinished bassinet we just bought her baby brother - love it.

I couldn't help but post this cheesy grin I caught out of my nephew Hilly - such a ham. I sure love that little punk.

And Sadie's fancy hair today - she held so still. Such a big girl.

In other news...Ry got a whopping 3 hours of sleep last night as he crams to finish off the semester strong. Poor guy. He's such a hard worker and I'm so proud of him. After tomorrow he'll only have 2 finals and 1 math assignment left...whew. Then he can just focus on his thesis...or rather, wait for people to get edits back to him and read his thesis. I hate the waiting game.

And me - feeling very pregnant. Just started up with pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome - thanks swelling hands and feet...stupid water retention. I sure didn't have this problem with Sadie. Funny how every pregnancy is so different. You just don't know what to expect.

Mr. Man sure moves a lot - he is one active baby! I feel him constantly and he gets hiccups daily. I can't wait to meet him and am starting to get VERY anxious!! Good thing this holiday month is sure to fly by! And about the name...we still don't know. I think Ry just hasn't had a lot of time to think about it - maybe over the holidays we can narrow it down a little. Although Sadie is STUCK on Bentley. If you ask her - that's what she'll tell you his name is. Funny girl.

poor frosty

This is how I found Frosty the other day...lying on the couch....seemingly "silenced"...

I don't have evidence yet, but all signs point to the mafia (or a little girl armed with stickers)...I wonder what his last words were...

thanksgiving and such

First - the yummy pies...only ended up making 6, but I still have the ingredients for the 7th. Oh darn, we'll just have to eat that one ourselves. Sweet Potato Pecan, Apple, Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake, Coconut Cream, Lemon Meringue, & Raspberry Cheesecake...I love them all.

People eating the pies...most of them. I missed a couple - sorry! It was so fun to spend 3 days at the in-laws. So much fun playing games - we sure get silly late at night. Too bad a third of us were sick.

Up the canyon getting trees on Saturday. It's tradition to cut down our own - Ry and I have never had a fake tree. We usually hike it together and yes, I make him hold hands and sing while we dance around our tree before we chop it down...but since I'm very pregnant and the hill was very steep - not to mention the waist deep snow...I stayed by the car with my sister-in-law Janell and our cute little ones. They had fun in the snow. Then we ate snacks and sat in the car. Mama came too and I caught a picture of her and Sadie right after they both fell - so cute!

Pics of our decorated tree to come soon - we're finishing that tonight for Family Home Evening...I love the holidays!

silly sadie

Last night Sadie swallowed an inch long plastic fork prong whole with her dinner...scared us half to death! It went down just fine, we didn't even know what she'd done until we saw her fork and after frantically searching couldn't find the prong anywhere. So...we know where it went. Silly girl. Her doctor said she'd be just fine...still makes me nervous.

We also went to pick up Ry from campus last night and he was just finishing testing the jet engine. So we're in the testing cell with Ry and 5 of his manly, very serious, engineering buddies who are very focused on what they're doing...most of which are single and don't really ever talk to girls (which makes this even funnier). We're sitting in the back trying to be quiet when Sadie strips her dolly down, sticks her up her shirt and announces loudly "I'm this dolly's mommy. She's in my tummy getting big and strong!" Pretty much my favorite moment of the day...and yes, I had no shame & whipped out the camera to take a picture instead of trying to get her to stop.

And lastly - I braided all of her hair for the first time the other day - it's so long! I couldn't believe it. Pretty girl. All Sadie updates...that's all I've got. Have a good weekend!
